pigauto

Eduardo Santos, Shinichi Nakagawa, Bhavya Jain and 10 other members

The main aim of this project is to carry out independent human validation of pigauto (https://itchyshin.github.io/pigauto/), an R package for imputing missing species traits using phylogenetic information, other traits and optional covariates. Contributing coauthors will assess whether the software behaves as intended and produces scientifically reliable results. Activities include running examples, reviewing code and statistical assumptions, checking installation and usability, and testing simulated or real datasets. Validation will compare imputations with known values withheld for testing, examine performance across trait types and missing-data patterns, and assess results against appropriate alternative methods. All pigauto validation findings, including successful checks, bugs, discrepancies and suggestions, should be documented on pigauto’s GitHub Issues page. Reports should include reproducible examples, package versions and enough detail for others to understand and repeat the checks. Issues concerning the i-CONNECTS platform itself should be reported separately on the i-CONNECTS Issues page. We will use i-CONNECTS to coordinate tasks and track contributions through CRediT. The project will help establish where pigauto works reliably, identify areas needing improvement and strengthen its documentation, while supporting transparent discussion of contributor roles and authorship.
